Insurance & Reinsurance

Crown Office Chambers is recognised for its extensive experience in insurance & reinsurance disputes.

Members are regularly instructed to advise and represent insurers and policy holders in coverage disputes, arbitration proceedings (international and domestic) and proceedings issued in county and high courts.

Our experience covers the entire range of insurance and reinsurance disputes including product liability, professional liability, property damage, construction, EL/PL, D&O, healthcare and medical malpractice and D&O. Members have also had experience of diverse issues such as terrorism, kidnap and ransom, fine art and force majeure. Members also have extensive fraud experience. As well as coverage issues our practice also includes substantial involvement in Subrogation and advising insurance professionals such as brokers.

Our vast experience in insurance disputes means we are perfectly placed to act in any issues arising from all major insurance reforms including the insurance act which has been in effect from August 2016.

Given that Crown Office Chambers and its members have been at the forefront of insurance law for so many years, we are perfectly placed to deal with disputes in emerging markets such as cyber, autonomous vehicles and issues arising from the internet of things.
