Construction & Engineering
Katie’s focus in terms of her construction and engineering practice is on cases arising out of potentially defective cladding systems or allegations of use of defective materials, particularly fire safety systems such as cavity barriers and fire doors.
Having been lead junior for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry throughout Phase 2, she has experience considering and advising on issues relating to alleged negligence of architect’s, builders, cladding contractors and fire engineers. She also has a keen interest in the involvement of and potential liability of Local Authority Building Control departments and Approved Inspectors and is co-editor of Chapter 18 of Emden’s Construction Law on the Responsibilities of Local Authorities in relation to construction work.
