Alice Jarratt

Alice Jarratt is a highly experienced trial advocate who has conducted countless trials in the Magistrates and Crown Courts and made numerous appearances in the Court of Appeal. She has a reputation as a formidable trial advocate, adept with legal argument and thorough in her preparation. She is described as ‘a brilliant Junior who is focused, tenacious and attentive to detail’ (Legal 500 2018) and to have ‘poise and confidence beyond her years’ (Chambers and Partners 2018); ‘An outstanding junior, who leaves no stone unturned’ (Legal 500 2017).

Alice has built a busy specialist practice in criminal regulatory law. She specialises in health and safety and inquests and Public Inquiry work, as well as consumer law cases, including cases relating to trading standards, advertising and licensing, product safety and food safety. She also deals with appeals and enforcement notices.

Alice represents companies, directors and employees and is regularly instructed in prosecutions of large and very large organisations for health and safety offences arising out of fatal and other serious accidents as well as gross negligence manslaughter and corporate manslaughter cases.

She has recently finished a multi-handed 6 week trial at the Central Criminal Court, led by Simon Antrobus QC, where their client was successfully acquitted of Gross Negligence Manslaughter and secured a non-custodial sentence in respect of an outstanding s7 HSWA 1974 charge.

Alice is highly experienced in issues of fire safety. She is currently instructed as counsel for the Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.

She was instructed as Junior counsel in the highly publicised Warwickshire Fire Case where she successfully secured the acquittal on all charges of a fire fighter charged with 4 counts of gross negligence manslaughter.

Alice also acts for professionals in disciplinary proceedings in a wide range of tribunals including, amongst others, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Police.
