Crown Office Chambers welcomes three new tenants

Crown Office Chambers is delighted to welcome Poppy Hill, Jamie Arthur and Oliver Stapel as our newest tenants, after successful completion of their pupillage.

Poppy Hill

Poppy accepts instructions across all of Chambers’ core areas of practice, with a particular interest in in insurance and reinsurance, professional negligence, personal injury, property damage, and construction.

Prior to Pupillage, Poppy read Classics at the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2020 and receiving the John Killen Scholarship for her subsequent MPhil studies. She went on to complete the Law Conversion and the Bar Course at City University of London, receiving a Sir Thomas More scholarship. During this period, she also gained experience as an advocate through volunteer work for both the Free Representation Unit and a Citizen’s Advice unit.

Jamie Arthur

Jamie accepts instructions across all of Chambers’ core areas of practice, with a particular interest in insurance and reinsurance, property damage, construction, professional negligence, product liability and environmental law.

Jamie studied Human, Social, and Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2021 with a first-class degree as a senior scholar. He completed the law conversion course at City University, achieving a distinction. For both the GDL and Bar Course, he was awarded Inner Temple scholarships. After the Bar Course, he worked as a judicial assistant to the Lady Chief Justice, assisting with cases ranging from the reform of alternative dispute resolution to high-profile criminal and public law appeals.

Oliver Stapel

Oliver accepts instructions across Chambers’ core areas of practice, with an emphasis on insurance & reinsurance, property damage, product liability, commercial, professional liability, and personal injury.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Oliver read Geography at the University of Oxford, graduating with a First-Class degree and the CDD Gibbs Book Prize. He completed the law conversion at the University of Law, achieving a distinction. Before pupillage, Oliver worked as a Data Analyst at the Joint Biosecurity Centre during the pandemic and, most recently, at the Ministry of Justice improving rehabilitation outcomes
