Rory Holmes represents train operator at Inquest touching upon death of Police Sergeant Graham Saville

Rory Holmes, instructed by Dan Mitchell of DWF, represented a national train operator at the Inquest touching upon the death of Mr Graham Saville.

Mr Saville, a serving police officer, died in August 2023 when struck by a high-speed passenger train on the railway tracks in Newark, Nottinghamshire. At the time of sustaining those injuries, Mr Saville was working in the execution of his public duty as a Police Sergeant, responding to a grade 1 incident involving a vulnerable person who had trespassed onto the railway line.

The inquest took place at Nottingham Coroner’s Court between 2 June and 13 June 2025,  before the Area Coroner. No adverse findings or conclusions were reached in respect of the train operator. The case has been widely reported in both local and national press.
