James Maxwell-Scott KC and Jack Murphy are representing the MCA at The Cranston Inquiry. This non-statutory inquiry, chaired by Sir Ross Cranston (a former Solicitor-General and retired High Court Judge), has been set up to look into the events of 24 November 2021, when at least 27 people lost their lives crossing the English Channel in a small boat. The full hearings started on 3 March 2025 and are expected to last 4 weeks. James Maxwell-Scott KC and Jack Murphy are instructed by Simon Belfield and Amanda Lea at DWF.
