Simon Antrobus KC and Dominic Kay KC involved in manslaughter acquittals



A 4-week manslaughter trial before Mrs Justice Jefford DBE and a jury has now concluded, relating to the death of TF in August 2020. TF died following a fall from a fragile roof in Bristol, whilst working for a roofing contractor. Simon Antrobus KC and Dominic Kay KC represented the two directors of the company, each of whom was acquitted unanimously by the jury of the charges of gross negligence manslaughter they faced, after more than 2 ½ days of deliberation. The jury convicted the company and each Defendant of lesser offences under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, for which they will now be sentenced in January 2025. Simon and Dominic were instructed by David Egan, Caroline Depledge, Felicity Wooley, Mark Thompson, Prem Thakor and Eloise Adams of DWF LLP. The Company was represented by separate Counsel, instructed by Amanda Lea and Vikki Woodfine of DWF LLP.
