Fine for oil pipeline specialist reduced in the Court of Appeal
John Cooper KC and Elizabeth Boon successfully represented the main fuel pipeline and storage facility network operator in the UK in an appeal relating to a sentence of £2.3M imposed after a conviction concerning the risk associated with exposure of a pipe that had previously been “hot tapped”, repaired and clamped in order to check thereafter whether it was leaking. The Court of Appeal reduced the fine by £800,000 but upheld the conviction. John and Elizabeth were instructed by Lyn Dario, Marie Bourke and Francesca Jobling at Tyr Law.
