Malcolm Galloway appointed as a Mental Health Appeal Tribunal (Restricted Patients) Judge
Chambers is delighted to announce that Malcolm Galloway has been appointed as a Mental Health Appeal Tribunal (Restricted Patients) Judge, to sit on tribunals involving mentally disordered offenders who are detained in hospital for treatment and who are subject to special controls by the Secretary of State for Justice. They include offenders who are diverted from the courts to the hospital system, and those who are transferred to a secure hospital from prison and made subject to a restriction order or direction.
In 2012 Malcolm was appointed a Crown Court Recorder (part time judge) on the Western Circuit. In 2015 he was authorised to sit as a judge in cases involving sexual allegations and sexual allegations involving children.
These appointments are part-time and Malcolm will fulfil his judicial commitments alongside his continuing regulatory criminal practice.
