Clean Sweep for Crown Office Chambers’ Health and Safety Team at Chambers UK Bar Awards 2020
Crown Office Chambers is delighted to have won all three awards in the ‘Health and Safety’ category at last night’s 2020 Chambers and Partners Bar Awards. The awards are based on Chambers and Partners’ research for the 2021 edition of ‘Chambers UK Bar’ and seek to recognise notable achievements and outstanding work.
Our Criminal Regulatory Team won the ‘Health and Safety Set of the Year’ award for the sixth time in the last 9 years, Dominic Kay KC was named ‘Health and Safety Silk of the Year’ and Mark Balysz won ‘Health and Safety Junior of the Year’.
Dominic Kay KC is listed in the legal directories as a Leading Silk in all three of his practice areas (Health and Safety, Inquests and Inquiries and Environmental Law) and during the last 12 months has appeared in numerous high profile matters, including prominent inquests, representing VLOs in environmental prosecutions and representing seven separate defendants charged with corporate or individual manslaughter.
Mark Balysz is listed as a Leading Junior in the legal directories and during the last 12 months has secured the acquittals of two directors charged with manslaughter, two individuals and two companies charged with health and safety offences, as well as representing three separate defendants listed to stand trial for corporate or individual manslaughter in 2021/22.
The awards, announced at an online ceremony, cap a great year for the entire team, barristers and clerks, and we would like to thank all of our instructing solicitors for their continued support.
