Passing of Sir Roy Beldam
It is with regret that inform you of the passing of Sir Roy Beldam on Friday 16 October 2020.
Before the merger of 1 Paper Buildings and 2 Crown Office Row forming Crown Office Chambers, Sir Roy Beldam was a very popular Head of Chambers at 1 Paper Buildings from 1975 until 1981 when he became Judge of the High Court.
Sir Roy Beldam’s judicial achievements also included:
- Lord Justice of Appeal (1989-2000)
- Chairman of the Law Commission (1985-1989)
- Presiding Judge, Wales and Chester Circuit (1984)
- Legal Assessor, General Medical Council (1976-1981)
- Recorder (1972)
