The Hillsborough Trial
Simon Antrobus KC, together with Jason Beer KC (instructed by DWF LLP), represented Graham Mackrell the Sheffield Wednesday Club Secretary, who was sentenced today to a fine of £6,500 for failing to take reasonable care in relation to turnstile arrangements for the event.
Following a 10-week trial at Preston Crown Court, Mr Mackrell had been found guilty by the jury of a breach of s7 of Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 but was acquitted of another criminal charge for an alleged breach of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.
