Earlier today the jury returned conclusions in the Hillsborough Inquests. The inquests into the 1989 Hillsborough Stadium Disaster ran for over 2 years and are the longest in English legal history. The jury answered a general questionnaire containing 14 questions and completed individual questionnaires for each of the 96 people who died. Philip Kolvin KC and James Maxwell-Scott KC represented Sheffield City Council instructed by Steve Eccleston and Scott Fitzjohn of Sheffield City Council’s Legal Department. Sheffield City Council were the certificating authority at the time of the disaster.
