Introduction

Crown Office Chambers was originally formed from two long established and well regarded common law sets of chambers in 2000. The merger proved very successful and Chambers has continued to attract both increasing numbers of new members and a higher quality of work in the intervening years. As a result it has become an important and influential participant in the market for legal services.

Chambers specialises in construction and commercial work, insurance and reinsurance, contract, professional negligence, personal injury and disease, health & safety and regulatory work, product liability, and clinical negligence. A number of members have specialisations outside of these core areas, details of which may be found on individual CVs on the Barristers page.

The size and resources of Crown Office Chambers - over 80 practising members at all levels of experience - enable us to offer our clients a greater choice of specialist advocates and advisers at all levels, even at short notice. We also have a recognised strength in depth and established teams working in our principal areas of practice which have allowed the development of even higher standards of expertise. The number of practitioners gives us the ability to provide high calibre teams of counsel for large and complex disputes, whether in litigation or arbitration.

In addition to this, almost all members of Chambers practise in more than one area of our work, enabling them to bring a broader range of experience to each case. We regard this "strength in breadth" as an important asset of the set that will be an added benefit to our clients.

Many individual members of Chambers are listed in Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 as leading practitioners in one or more of their principal fields of practice. Chambers is also identified in the directories as a leading or highly regarded set in its main areas of work.

In addition to our expertise in litigation we offer specialised advice and services in alternative dispute resolution. There are dedicated pages within our site setting out the particular skills and facilities we have available in Arbitration, Mediation and Adjudication.

Barristers at Crown Office Chambers frequently present seminars on a wide range of topics relating to Chambers' work. The full list of past and forthcoming seminars can be found here. Chambers also offers regular in-house seminars, which can be tailored to your firm's requirements, on request. Please contact Julian Campbell for further information.
