Before coming to the Bar, Justin ran a recruitment company in the West End of London. Following a third-six pupillage, he became a tenant on 1 April 2006. Prior to that, he completed a 12 month pupillage at 3 Verulam Buildings, Gray’s Inn.
Working knowledge of French, German and Russian.
Practice
He practises in the core areas of Chambers’ work and regularly appears in the County Courts and the High Court. He has particular experience of insurance, general contractual, commercial and franchise disputes, construction disputes, insolvency matters, employers’ and public liability claims and personal injury, in particular industrial disease, claims.
He also has experience of health and safety and criminal matters as well as inquests and has appeared in the Crown Court and Coroners’ Court.
He advises and appears on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants and accepts instructions on a conditional fee basis.
He was recently led by Roger ter Haar QC in Axa Insurance UK PLC v Norwich Union Insurance Limited [2007] LL.R.IR Plus 45 EWHC 1046 (Comm) before Andrew Smith J. The case concerned the proper interpretation and application of section 145 (4A) RTA 1988 and its interaction with the Employers’ Liability (Compulsory) Insurance Exemption (Amendment) Regulations 1992 and the Third Directive on Motor Insurance (90/232/EEC).

2007 Co-author of case note on Citibank v MBIA & Anor [2007] EWCA Civ 11 published in International Corporate Rescue. This Court of Appeal decision discussed the rights and obligations of trustees in securitisation deals, in the context of the securitisation of Eurotunnel’s debts.
